Orchard Boulevard MRT Station (TE13) will be an underground station situated along the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL). It is being constructed at the intersection of Orchard Boulevard and Grange Road, connecting to hotels, commercial buildings, and residential developments providing ease of access.
The Thomson-East Coast Line’s Orchard Station will function as an interchange station between the TEL and the North-South Line (NSL). Estimated to be completed in 2021, passengers will be able to transfer seamlessly between the TEL and NSL via an underpass across Orchard Boulevard and a structure that is being built right under the existing NSL’s Orchard Station approximately 30m below ground. Orchard Boulevard station, having two platforms, is designed to an island platform arrangement. Full-length screen doors will isolate the air-conditioned station from the tunnel environment, improving safety and comfort in the station. A set of escalators, stairs, and lifts connect to the concourse above.
Passenger Information Systems, which are plasma display screens located at each platform, display expected train arrival times and key messages. Tactile flooring helps to guide the visually-handicapped from the platform to the station exits.
